26 years old. Prince William Sound Fisherman for the last 22 years.

There isn’t really a typical day fishing in the Sound… it can vary so much in just a few hours. Fishing can go from just scratching away all day with a few fish in each set to the all out frenzy of boats and competition when all of a sudden the salmon just start emerging from the water. Sometimes my day will start with lots of excitement and a big "clean up" followed by scratch fishing all day. The best days are when you find the fish and get to "load up" all by yourself with no other boats around.

The scenery in the Sound is breathtaking, from mist in the morning coming out of a glassy-calm bay to sunny skies, towering mountains, glaciers and wildlife.

Fishing in the Sound is different than other areas in Alaska because we are fishing protected waters, and the scenery is amazing. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Alaska's policy of sustainable fisheries affects where, when, and how long I fish. It is essential to keeping healthy stocks to ensure that I have a lifelong job providing sustainable sockeye to salmon lovers. The rest of the equation falls on each and every concerned Alaskan that wants to keep our way of life protected. Everyone that uses our oceans and watersheds has a responsibility to protect our resources.
